SYNOPSIS

Leland doesn't wanna get ready for church. His Mother insists they're gonna be late if he doesn't. Leland just wants to play video games and daydream about a more exciting life. Is that exciting life waiting for him across town? Is it, perhaps, on its way to meet him?

I made Gonna Be Late for my Film I final at Webster University. We shot the whole thing in one day with an Arri S camera and six 100ft. loads of Kodak black & white 16mm film.

In one shot, while following runners Alex Younger and Matt McLaughlin up some stairs, I tripped and fell on account of not being able to see and shoot at the same time. I bit the dust and the camera fell too. Some people were like "are you all right?" and I replied with "make sure the camera's okay" in a weak voice.
